Description of the selection tests

The selection for the Bachelor Programme in Mime Acting is organised through a series of tests which will take place in January–March 2025. The assessment of the applicants in these tests is conducted by an admission group with expertise that reflects the current programme. A student representative will also participate in the admission group. The student has the right to express an opinion but not the right to make a decision.

The admission group's assessment and selection is based on artistic merit and you can read below the selection criteria for each of the admission tests. After each test round, a decision will be made on which applicants will proceed to the next step and those who will not. Everyone will be informed, regardless of whether they proceed or not.

Selection test 1 – work sample submitted before 15 January 2025

Selection test 1 consists of the work samples you attached to your application. For this selection round, you as an applicant do not need to participate on site at the university. The deadline for uploading the work samples in Varbi is 15 January 2025.  For more information on what to submit, see the heading "How to apply" on the programme page.

The admission group's assessment of test 1 is based on these selection criteria:

  • Ability to prepare an elaborate scene
  • Ability to tell/create stories on stage
  • Physical expressiveness
  • Ability to assimilate the training

The admission group's assessment of the submitted work samples will take place in January–February 2025. All applicants will be informed at the end of February whether or not they have proceeded to the second selection test.

Selection test 2: 18, 19 or 20 March 2025

The test requires live presence and takes place at Stockholm University of the Arts in Stockholm.

If you have progressed to selection test 2, you will receive an invitation to one of these dates, and you will be invited to either the morning or afternoon.

Selection test 2 consists of workshops, both in groups and individually, on different forms of movement and interpretation. The assessment is based on these selection criteria:

  • Physical expressiveness (bodily and spatial choices)
  • Adaptability of the body (ability to adapt to different movement expressions)
  • Good listening skills (towards the room, the task, the collaborators and oneself)
  • Musicality in movement

Once the second round of tests has been completed, the admission group will decide who will proceed to Selection test 3. All those who have participated in Selection test 2 will be informed late afternoon/evening on 20 March whether or not they have progressed.

Selection test 3 – 21 March 2025

The test requires live presence and takes place at Stockholm University of the Arts in Stockholm during a full day.

Selection test 3 consists of several parts, individually and in groups. You will participate in a mime lesson, work with improvisation, and prepare and present individual assignments. Information on the specific tasks will be presented during the exam. The assessment of the test is based on these selection criteria:

  • Ability to tell/create stories on stage
  • Improvisation skills (individually and with others)
  • Presence in performing tasks
  • Mobility in the body

At the end of the third round of tests, the admission group will decide who will proceed to Selection test 4. All those who have participated in Selection test 3 will be informed late afternoon/evening of 21 March whether they have proceeded to the fourth selection test.

Selection test 4 – 24 and 25 March 2025 (individual preparation day on 23 March)

The test requires live presence and takes place on 24 and 25 March at Stockholm University of the Arts in Stockholm. Applicants attend both days. If you proceed to test 4, you will be given a task on Sunday morning 23 March to prepare for the test day on 24 March. On Sunday, there will be an opportunity to practice in SKH's premises for those who wish.

Selection test 4 consists of an individual presentation, a group task and an interview. The assessment of the test is based on these selection criteria:

  • Creativity
  • Co-operative skills in solving scenic tasks
  • Ability to prepare an elaborate scene
  • Ability to link body, voice and creativity to scenic choices

Important to know about the selection procedure

Every applicant will receive notification of whether they have proceeded to the next part of the process or not. More detailed information on what will be included in each test and how to prepare will be communicated on an ongoing basis. All communication takes place via Varbi and the e-mail address you used in your application.

You are responsible for monitoring your e-mail including your spam inbox so that you do not miss important information from us.

You cannot choose the test dates yourself and we are very restrictive about changing the day and time of the tests. Changes are only allowed in exceptional circumstances and we cannot guarantee that you will be offered a new test date, so please make sure to save all the dates in your calendar.

The admission group gives no justification for their decision after tests 1, 2 and 3. Only after the last selection round, test 4, will the applicants, who haven't been admitted, have the opportunity for a follow-up conversation with one of the members of the admission group.

After selection test 4, the admission group decides which of the applicants will be admitted and who will be on the waiting list. Notification of admission or reserve placement will be made via universityadmissions.se on 6 May 2025. If you are admitted to the programme, you need to reply by 19 May 2025 whether you wish to attend the programme or not. If you do not reply within the period indicated on the admission notification, you will lose your place and it will be offered to the next in line on the waiting list.
