Uprooted Jazz Dance Intensive

Uprooted invites us to join their faculty and dig deep into the roots and branches of jazz dance. Over the three-day intensive, you will dig deep and physically explore the history of jazz dance.

The intensive is designed for both dancers and teachers. 

Program

The intensive will kick off on the evening of 11 August with a screening of the full film Uprooted - The Journey of Jazz Dance followed by an in-depth discussion with the Uprooted faculty:

• Robin Gee ~ African Dance and African Aesthetics in Jazz Dance
• Jreena Green ~ Lindy Hop, Charleston and social dance history
• Aggie Nonsizi ~ AfroBeat
• Zak Nemorin ~ Matt Mattox based Isolation technique and theatrical jazz

The full 3-day intensive will run from Tuesday, 12 August to Thursday, 14 August, at 10:00-18:00 daily. 

Classes range from 90 minutes to 2 hours, and we have built in discussion sessions to the schedule.

The intensive has been carefully curated for both dancers and teachers.

Locations

Dance studios at SKH Brinellvägen 58 and the screening will be held at Balettakademien Birger Jarls gata 70.
