Admission Process Master Programme in Opera - Vocal Performance
The entrance examinations are conducted in two rounds. The first test is a qualification test and the second is a combined qualification and selection test. The first qualification test is conducted digitally with recorded material, while qualification test 2 and the selection test are conducted at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) in Stockholm Friday, 27 february, (week 9) 2026.
In total, applicants must have prepared eight different pieces as follows:
- Seven opera arias.
- One lied or song.
One piece must be performed in your native language, the others in the original language.
A pianist will be at your disposal from qualification test 2 onwards. Bring sheet music for for all pieces on your repertoire list.
This is how the tests work
Qualification test 1
Submitted material on film and audio file. No attendance required by applicants.
Assessment
Qualification test 1 takes into account the programme's requirements for the applicant's musical and vocal ability. The admission group decides who will proceed to qualification test 2. The invitation is sent out via Varbi at the latest week 6, 2026.
Qualification test 2/Selection test
Friday 27 February 2026
The combined qualification and selection test takes place during one day at SKH, Teknikringen 35 in Stockholm.
- Musical performance test, 15 minutes individual test before the admission group.
You will work musically on an aria from your repertoire list with one of our rehearsal teachers. Here we assess how you interpret and translate musical instructions. You will be informed of the aria chosen by the admission group in your invitation. In the invitation to the second audition, you will also be told which aria the admission group would like to work on in the third audition, if you are successful. This is so that you can prepare yourself in the best possible way.
- Scenic performance test, 15 minutes individual test before the admission group.
We will work on stage with an aria from your repertoire list, where you must be able to take direction, use scenic imagination, show social skills, use body language and personal expression in front of the admission group. - Interview, approximately 15 minutes. In the interview, we will ask questions about your personal letter, There you will have the opportunity to clarify your thoughts and development regarding your artistry and creativity as a singer.
- The admission group may wish to hear something more from your repertoire list during the test day, so bring sheet music of your entire repertoire list.
Assessment
Decisive for the final admission is that you are judged to have the vocal, musical and performing skills to be able to benefit from the programme. Your reflective ability is also taken into account in the final assessment.
