Researcher: Marius Dybwad Brandrud
The project concerns cinematic subjectivity behind and in front of the camera and screen. Departing from a critique of representation, the project is searching for a cinematic practice guided by non-unitary conceptions of subjectivity. The ambition is to investigate notions of responsibility in and through documentary processes of filmmaking.
What is it to make an image of someone? How does a cinematic subject come into being? What does responsibility in a documentary film process mean?
The research will be conducted by filmic means in dialogue with philosophy and film theory.
50 %-seminar spring 2018. Public defence 2021.
The project will mostly be presented in filmic form, made available via internet-links.
