Research week at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) is back on 18–21 January 2022. During Research Week researchers at SKH show off a broad selection of artistic research projects. Both ones that are almost finalised – and new embryos of projects in unexpected constellations, that are being tested in front of an audience for the first time.

Anne Juren successfully defended her artistic research project "Studies on Fantasmical Anatomies" on 26 November 2021, within the PhD programme Performative and Media-Based Practices. The documented artistic research project (doctoral thesis) can be found on the Research Catalogue and DIVA.

The Professor of Aesthetic Didactics at Stockholm University of the Arts, Ylva Hofvander Trulsson, has been elected to the Committee for Educational Sciences at the Swedish Research Council (VR). The committee, which among other things manages the grant system for educational sciences, is the highest research body within educational sciences in Sweden.

Ninnie Andersson, Assistant Professor of Dance Pedagogy at Stockholm University of the Arts, is one of two researchers that share a research grant of almost 4,3 million SEK from the Swedish Institute for Educational Research, for a project that studies actual teaching situations in secondary school dance and drama classes together with working teachers.

The call for VIS issue 8 is open. The theme is “Of Rules and Alternatives” and editors are Serge von Arx and Eliot Moleba. Deadline is 11 February 2022.

Eli Bø, Professor of Production Design and Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Stockholm University of the Arts, has been appointed by the Board of the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences as Dean and new leader of The Norwegian Film School.

SVT (Swedish Television) has already bought the screening rights to all the graduation films made by the graduates of the Department of Film and Media, which means that everyone will be able to watch them on SVT Play in 2022.

Two artistic research projects at Stockholm University of the Arts receive a combined 7.4 million Swedish kronor in funding when the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet, VR) distribute this year’s grants.

Yesterday, 19 Oktober, issue six of VIS – Nordic Journal for Artistic Research was released, with the theme “Contagion”. When the Editorial Committee of the journal picked the theme in March 2020, contagion felt like a very relevant subject. But no-one could have predicted at the time just how much contagion would come to influence society – or how many issues about art and contagion that would suddenly turn up and become deeply influential.
