Opera students graduated in performance at Wermland Opera

As an opera student at SKH, you end your three years of study with a graduation performance on a major opera stage in Sweden. This year was no exception. At the end of May, the six graduation students Astrid Banck-Linderoth, Saga Fribyter, Clarice Granado, Ebba Lejonclou, Mårten Wåhlström and Sandra Bendrik performed The Keys of Power at Wermland Opera.

- “It is precious for the students to have their degree performance at Wermland Opera with their fine opera orchestra and the experienced conductor Andreas Hanson. It is also important that the students get an insight into the work on and behind the scenes and at Wermland Opera they get good support from the opera house's staff", says Lise-Lotte Axelsson Head of Opera at SKH.

Two students from year 2, Nicklas Bjärnhall Prytz and Johan Gummesson, and the opera directing MA student Aurelia Le Huche, also participated in the performance.

Stina Ancker, lecturer in stage design at SKH, directed and was responsible for the stage design.

The graduation performance Keys of Power

The performance Keys of Power (Maktens Nycklar) at Wermland Opera on 18-19 May 2024 was an Italian evening of opera music by Donizetti, Bellini and Wolf-Ferrari.

The students presented scenes from three operas that in different ways tell the story of women losing control of their lives - the tragic bel canto operas I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Romeo and Juliet) and Anna Bolena (Anne Boleyn) and from the comic opera Le donne curioze (The Curious Wives).
