“We want to look at language as a tool, as a site for ethical and aesthetic experimentation and reflection – and at the various ways language is used both in the communication of, and reflection on, the research conducted within our field.” – Tale Næss, Editor for the issue.

The issue contains eight contributions that in various ways center on language. Contributions that move with language or against it, and that approach language as a site for ethical and aesthetic experimentation and reflection.

The issue was presented digitally at the Artistic Research Spring Forum 2026 in Norway. Tale Næss, editor of the issue, introduced the theme and all the expositions together with moderator Liv Kristin Holmberg. Also present were three contributing artists: Renée Turner, Vanja Hamidi Isacson (formerly a PhD candidate at SKH), and Ektoras Arkomanis.
