Mein-Grundeinkommen Celebrates 10 Years with Erik Gandini’s After Work

To celebrate a decade of transforming lives, Germany's non-profit Mein Grundeinkommen has chosen SKH's researcher Erik Gandini’s thought-provoking documentary After Work to inspire its vast community of over 200,000 monthly supporters and 3.8 million participants.

Building a future where the meaning of life goes beyond work
Since 2014, Mein Grundeinkommen has been a leader in the conversation about Unconditional Basic Income (UBI), crowdfunded and raffling over 1,500 UBIs to individuals across Germany. This visionary initiative has redefined how we think about economic security and life beyond traditional work structures.

In collaboration with Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH), Mein Grundeinkommen is sharing After Work with its members to spark a bold discussion on the role of work in our lives. Gandini’s documentary, developed as part of his Swedish Research Council funded artistic research project The Future Through the Present, asks critical questions about identity, purpose, and freedom in a world where work as we know it is being redefined. After its journey as a film in the classic distribution channels, festivals, theaters and broadcast, a communication grant allows the project to reach more communities, like associations demanding basic income. Join Mein Grundeinkommen in celebrating this milestone and explore how we can build a future where life’s meaning transcends work.

"Our 10-year anniversary is more than just looking back on our achievements; it’s about envisioning the future. After Work is a powerful tool for inspiring our community to rethink what’s possible in a world where work no longer defines us.", says Christian Stollwerk, Public Relations at Mein Grundeinkommen.

As documentary filmmakers and researchers in the arts, Erik Gandini and Costanza Julia Bani know how fundamental it is to engage audiences and communities that otherwise would never get to see what we produce.

"We always have to find project-related ways to be able to have an impact on society with our practices, what we want to achieve where and who might be our addressees," says researcher Costanza Julia Bani.
