Tempo Documentary Festival 2026

Tempo Documentary Festival 2026 will take place from 2 to 8 March, and for us it is a much-anticipated event.

This year, the entire festival will kick off with La belle année, created by SKH alumna Angelica Ruffier, who graduated in 2023. The feature film is the result of a further development of the short film ‘Jag har ett ansikte för att bli älskad’ (I Have a Face to Be Loved) which was Angelica's graduation project for her master's degree in film and media. The same programme was also attended by producer Brynhildur Þórarinsdóttir, cinematographer Simon Averin Markström and Gustav Ågerstrand, editor Anna Eborn and film music composer Leo Svensson Sander, all of whom continued to work on this film after graduation.

Tempo Documentary Festival runs from 2 to 8 March, and SKH has the following programme item:

Documentary storytelling of the future

When: Tuesday 3 March, 4–5 p.m.
Where: Mötesplats Mariatorget

Ray Borg is a director and PhD candidate at Stockholm University of the Arts, researching different types of film manipulation. They have previously directed films such as Passion and Future My Love. Here, they are joined by Valentina Chamorro Westergårdh (SVT), Manuel Cubas (Senior Lecturer in Audiovisual Media), and Tinna Joné (Senior Lecturer in Documentary Storytelling) from SKH to discuss who owns the truth in the documentary storytelling of the future. In collaboration with Stockholm University of the Arts.

Research in progress: expanding documentary storytelling

When: Wednesday, 4 March, 1:00–1:30 p.m.
Where: Meeting place Mariatorget
Participants: PhD student Carl Olsson and Professor Erik Gandini from SKH

A conversation between Carl Olsson and Erik Gandini about their artistic research. How can different narrative structures be combined in a single film, and how can two parallel time dimensions be worked with in the same image?
