Eco-Screendance: Perceptions of the More-than-Human
A theoretical and practical workshop (2 sessions of 3 hours each)
This workshop explores the connections between dance, environment, and audiovisual expression. Its aim is to develop ecological awareness through the body, perception, and moving images.
Part 1 – Theory and Observation
Introduction to key references in ecocriticism and screendance through theory, group discussions, and collective viewing of selected works. Participants analyze relationships between body, space, environment, and the audiovisual medium.
Part 2 – Practice and Composition
A hands-on session where participants experiment with bodily actions and filming in space and environment. The second part includes video composition and editing using smartphone or computer apps, followed by a collective reflection on the material created. Participants may use their own smartphones or cameras.
Workshop leader: Davide De Lillis is a curator, multidisciplinary artist, and somatic educator. He is a PhD candidate at Roma Tre University in Cultures, Practices, and Technologies of Cinema, Media, Music, Theatre, and Dance in collaboration with the National Academy of Dance.
