"In a masculine guise" by Saga Fribyter

Gender and gender roles are explored through character development centred on the individual in some of opera’s beloved breeches role.

Where is the line between prejudice and constructive character development?

With several well-known arias from the breeches role repertoire, you are invited to join an exploration focusing specifically on gender, power and doing justice to the character.

"Role development from a Feminist Perspective – Susanna’s influence towards Ilia" by Giovanna Alves dos Santos

Welcome to Giovanna’s master concert, where she performs excerpts from Mozart’s opera Idomeneo, portraying Ilia. In this project, she explores how Ilia can be reimagined with greater agency by drawing inspiration from other operatic characters, particularly Susanna from Le Nozze di Figaro.

This performance investigates how characters from different operas can influence one another, opening new interpretative possibilities

By approaching Ilia through a feminist lens, the project seeks to provide female roles with greater psychological depth, stronger inner motivation, and increased dramaturgical relevance.
