Four choreographic works

Four choreographic works

Julia Müllner, Luusi Kateme, Petra Söör och Ģirts Dubults from the master's program in choreography present their own works in Meta Isaeus-Berlin's exhibition "The Party That Never Happened."

The event at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern has an ongoing format with programmed performances.

Instead of dancing with, or alongside, the existing artworks, the student artists from the MA programme in choreography will share their own choreographic works that stand alongside, connect to, converse with, and enhance the experience of the artworks and the conceptual idea, as well as the architecture of the exhibition space.

The choreographic works move between themes such as the non-human, ecocriticism, spiritual belief, and meditation; some are clearly placed and formatted, while others are more fluid and negotiable.

Descriptions and presentations

Title: slowly, moving, parasite
By and with: Julia Müllner and Ottavia Catenacci

Length: 10 minutes

Two bodies cling to each other, temporarily disrupting form and weight. Two bodies find patterns of hospitality and disgust. Two bodies, Ottavia Catenacci and Julia Müllner, explore the kinetic practice of parasitism. Their bodies become entangled, symbiotically and parasitically, with the surrounding architecture. Each version of the performance takes place in different locations within the exhibition.

Her spiritually grounded artistic practice,Moving Through Stillness (MTS), takes shape in an embodied, conscious presence that honors the intelligence that exists in the here and now. At the heart of her work is a dedication to letting go of the control of the mind and resting in trust in the inner intelligence of the body, which carries the guiding force of her lineage.

Title: At the same time, drifting weather-beaten bodies
By and with: Petra Söör

Length: 15 min

The vanished forest and the clear-cut area made an empty, howling song in the wind. I was often too far away or too busy to hear it. But the veins and growth rings, the liveliness of the forest, like trees, like family, like relatives, now imprinted in the floor and concrete of this building, made me pause. The walls hummed, not loudly but with an intimacy that I could feel in all my soft tissues. Inside outside, outside inside, uninterrupted elemental touch.
