Closing act
Inspired by kinetic sculptures and self-playing instruments, Rikard builds a sculpture on stage with wooden hands and a plastic head.
Through increasingly complex patterns and sequences, he explores what happens in the meeting between a juggler and a sculpture.
The act consists of a duet between a juggler and a machine, a ring juggling solo, and a moment where a sculpture tries to juggle by itself.
It is a celebration of human ingenuity, an exploration of repetition and complexity, and an homage to an era when technology could be understood by regular people.

Rikard Holmstedt
Rikard Holmstedt grew up in Uppsala, Sweden, and found juggling at the age of eleven. Since then, juggling has been his biggest passion, and in 2023, he went directly from the youth circus in Uppsala to study the circus bachelor at Stockholm University of the Arts. During his time there, he developed his ring juggling but also found the joy of woodworking through creating kinetic sculptures based on his juggling practice.
