In the PhD project, research is done through encounters in dance. Situating practice has been in focus and led to interest in different forms of archiving and examining how knowledges emerge when you dance for and with each other. Based on experiences that different dance practices choreograph ways of knowing, relate to and create contexts, hold meaning and shape bodies, the question is posed: how can one learn from each other in dance?
During the first, period and the opening work, different questions have come fore, situating concepts such as folklore, folk-, popular- and social dance in practice has provided friction and created interest in the position as a doctoral candidate in artistic research at SKH. Situating becomes a performative act; the nuances change in relation to contexts, depending on how it is done, positions and knowledge are put into play.

You are welcome to the gathering of this 30% seminar, there will be an introduction, and an event where you may take part of/in my research interests at this moment; dance - not to be seen (?), handwritten notes, remembering, touching, reclaiming while resisting idealization, returning to something holding it with open hands stating the complexity of staying and dealing with it, the social as documentation, stirring up the ethnographic dust, potentials for the social relation, the silence when assumptions crackle, constituting oneself to be in haptic relation of groove, learning from and finding ways for how to deal with specific knowledges in dance. The event is then followed by a response, Ingrid Cogne, invited in the role as opponent, will respond to the work and then we will have a conversation, first between me and Ingrid and then we invite you and all the seminar participants that wish to engage in the discussion on plans for the continuation of the research.
