Hazy Dayz

Hazy Dayz

A 2023 NPP Presentation, by Darya Efrat.

This is an invitation to an assemblage-in-motion where the translucent and the blurry are explored. Where the body is not discrete, and multiplicity and fuzziness are welcomed. Stillness will be present along with the traces of a trajectory in space.

A memory. A cloud. A dim shadow.
Some sounds.

A proposal for fleeting, fluttering encounters.

Bio

Darya Efrat makes performances and installations influenced by space, circus, music, text, glass, wood, clay, and being together with others. Emerging from violent histories and multi-generational migration, the works attempt to reconcile questions concerning identity, gender, and belonging. They are developed mainly in public spaces (but not only) in-between Jerusalem, New York, Porto, Stockholm, and Zagreb. The practice was nurtured by many people along the way and at Columbia University in New York – in the visual arts and anthropology departments. Currently, it is supported by the Stockholm University of the Arts in the New Performative Practices master program.

Pedro Pestana is a musician who plays guitar and effect pedals in 10 000 Russos, Talea Jacta, and Tren Go! Sound System. With a rather sonic and experimental background, his sound lies somewhere between world music and EDM. Along with several collaborations, he has contributed to over 40 releases and has performed around Europe, Mexico and North Africa. Has made soundtracks and performed live music for theatre, performance, dance and film as well. In the latter, he has also worked in several roles in the sound department, from recording to sound design of award winning animations, documentaries and fiction films. Also collaborated with artist Silvestre Pestana for the Blue Light exhibition.
