Wednesday seminar: Artistic Agency and Autonomy in Collective Art-Making

We will explore sonic agency, collective authorship, and shared responsibility in artistic practice. Through a Long Table discussion hosted by Carolina Jinde, we will listen, discuss, and think together about how sound and listening can open new ways of working collectively in film and art-making.

This seminar is part of the Wednesday seminar series this autumn “Methods and Practices”, where we explore a wide range of emerging methods and practices in artistic research. Here you can learn more about the series and discover upcoming seminars!

This Wednesday Seminar is part of the ongoing artistic research project Artistic Agency and Autonomy in Collective Art-Making, where sound artist and artistic researcher Carolina Jinde explores how creative agency, authorship and responsibility can be shared within collaborative artistic processes.

The project rethinks filmmaking and artistic creation through sonic attention and listening, suggesting that listening can be both a method and a mode of collaboration. How might sonic experiencing guide artistic decision-making? How can listening shape workflows, vocabularies, and relations across disciplines and expertise?

Exhibition and Long table discussion

For this seminar, we gather at Marabouparken Konsthall. The seminar follows the Long Table format, as an alternative to traditional panel discussions but to set it off we begin by visiting the ongoing exhibition One is Equal to One by visual artist Lina Selander within which Jinde has collaborated as sound artist.

The exhibition is multifaceted in both form and concept, with an intricate interplay of layers that provoke thought and immerse you in the experience. Jinde's sonic contribution explores the potential for creating a sanctuary space in which conscience and reflection become central, and where each participant's contemplative presence contributes to the collective experience. More about the exhibition

Following the joint visit to the exhibition, we move into Marabouparken’s library for the Long Table discussion.
The Long Table, conceived by performance artist Lois Weaver (Split Britches), is an open, performative conversation — a format that invites everyone present to participate, to listen, join the table, contribute to the dialogue and pose questions.

The Long Table will be hosted by Carolina Jinde. Artists that Jinde has collaborated with such as Lina Persson, Nina Westman, Lina Selander, Ester Martin Bergsmark, Ylva Gustavsson, Christina Lindgren, and Jörgen Bergmark, will be present in the room. Together we will explore how artistic agency can circulate within collective art-making, and how sonic practices might reshape our sense of authorship and co-creation. More about the format: Split Britches – The Long Table
