Admission process for the Bachelor Programme in Dance

The admission process to the Bachelor Programme in Dance is made by the assessment of the general entry requirements as well as the specific requirement: Passed qualification test. The process is divided into three steps, described below. After each stage of the process, there will be a decision on who will proceed to the next step. Everyone is informed of whether or not they will proceed. All three steps will be digital.

Time plan 

  • Last day of application: 15 January. 
  • Last day for application fee and supporting documents: 2 February 
  • Qualification test and the first selection: takes place during January and is based on the materials that you send in with your application. No participation necessary.
  • Selection 2: 16-18 March. Online participation necessary. You will receive an invitation in the middle of February.
  • Selection 3: 19-20 March. Online participation necessary. You will receive an invitation on 18 March if you are selected.
  • Admission decisions: are published on 31 March on My pages on universityadmissions.se 
  • Last day to reply to possible programme offer: 13 April 

  

Assessment of eligibility and selection takes place in several stages.
Grades are assessed by the Swedish Council for Higher Education and the Education Administration Department. Artistic merits are assessed by an admissions panel consisting of teachers at Stockholm University of the Arts. A student representative may also participate in the admissions process but does not make any decisions. Prior Learning is assessed by an appointed teacher.


The admissions process consists of several parts, all of which are digital. After each stage, a decision will be made on who will proceed to the next stage. Everyone will be notified, regardless of whether they proceed or not.

Qualification test

The qualification test consists of, and is assessed based on, the submitted material:

Selection of experience, Motivational letter and Video.

Eligible applicants will be ranked on the basis of the submitted material according to the criteria below: 
• the applicant's ability to interpret, respond to and embody various physical tasks and set movement material, 
• the applicant’s ability to articulate the body, and work with spatial choices and musicality, 
• the applicant’s ability to reflect on their choices in relation to a broader context.  

 

The applicant has to get the grade of pass regarding all the materials in the Qualification Test  in order to be invited to attend the second selection. 
The scale for assessing the Qualification Test is: Pass and Fail.

 

Selections

Should there be more eligible applicants than places in the programme, there will be a selection. Every applicant who fulfils all the general and specific entry requirements will be considered in the selection.

 

Selection 1 – submitted material
Selection 1 takes place in January and is based on submitted material: selection of experiences, motivation letter and video.

The selection is assessed and ranked based on the selection criteria below:

  • the applicant's ability to interpret, respond to and embody various physical tasks and set movement material, 
  • the applicant’s ability to articulate the body, and work with spatial choices and musicality, 
  • the applicant’s ability to reflect on their choices in relation to a broader context.  


Selection 2 – online workshop
Selection 2 takes place on 16–18 March and consists of an online workshop. You will receive more information about the workshop in an invitation.

The selection is assessed and ranked based on the selection criteria below:

  • the applicant's ability to interpret, respond to and embody various physical tasks,
  • the applicant’s ability to articulate the body,
  • the applicant's willingness to communicate and collaborate with others.


Selection 3 – online workshop and a short interview 
Selection 3 takes place on 19–20 March and consists of an online workshop and a short interview with the admissions group.

The selection is assessed and ranked based on the selection criteria below:

  • the applicant's ability to interpret, respond to and embody various physical tasks,
  • the applicant’s ability to articulate the body,
  • the applicant's willingness to communicate and collaborate with others,
  • the applicant's interest in exploring/researching process-based dance learning.
