Exchange studies in Film and Media

Courses offered

We offer you to follow courses within a specialisation from the curriculum of the Master's Programme in Film and Media (year 1, semester 1). You can read information on our website to find out more about the programme. There are two options on courses. Option one is to follow the courses for the first year, semester 1. The second option is to follow the courses for the second year, semester 3. Please read about the different options below.

First year, semester 1

Total ECTS: 30

Study period: 31 August 2026–17 January 2027

Study pace: Full time

Main language of instruction: English

Responsible unit: Department of Film and Media

Specialisation: Animation 

Apart from specialisation-specific courses, the programme includes research preparatory courses. By following the links, you can read the syllabuses for the courses included in the autumn semester of 2026:

Second year, semester 3

Total ECTS: 30

Study period: 31 August 2026–17 January 2027

Study pace: Full time

Main language of instruction: Swedish

Responsible unit: Department of Film and Media

Specialisations:  Cinematography, Directing Documentary, Directing Fiction, Film Editing, Film Sound Design, Producer for film, television and new media, Production design, Script Writing for Film and Television.

Apart from specialisation-specific courses, the programme includes an elective course within SKH. By following the links, you can read the syllabuses for the courses included in the autumn semester of 2026:

  • Documenting Artistic Practice, 7.5 ECTS
  • Laboratory Course - Advanced Project Work, 15 ECTS
  • Elective Course within SKH, 7.5 ECTS; You will have the opportunity to choose from a range of courses from SKH's seven different subject areas. The purpose of the elective courses is to create conditions for meetings between students from different Programmes and an interaction between art forms. You will thus be given the opportunity to broaden your education and enrich your own artistic practice with new perspectives. 

Application

The application period is 15 March–15 April 2026.

After being nominated by your home university, you submit your application to SKH via the application system Varbi. Please note that we only accept applications via Varbi and that we will not consider any applications from students sent by e-mail or regular post.

The following documents needs to be uploaded with your application (in English, Swedish or other Scandinavian language):

  • A certificate of Degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent higher education qualification
  • Registration certificate from your home university
  • Transcript of records of your programme courses at your home university completed so far
  • Language certificate showing your level in English (if applying for semester 1) or English and Swedish or other Scandinavian language (if applying for semester 3)
  • Letter of motivation (max. 1 A4 page): Describe why you are applying for exchange studies in film and media at SKH and what your expectations are
