Humor in Movement: Physical Comedy Engaging Audiences

In the first module, you will explore play as a method. This will be done through exercises in clowning and physical comedy, and you will begin to experiment with how this can be integrated into your own artistic discipline and what it can mean to interact with different audience contexts.

The work of combining your own exploration of clowning and physical comedy continues in the second module, where your independent work eventually transitions entirely into ensemble work.

General entry requirements: for undergraduate studies with the exception of the basic qualification in Swedish

Specific entry requirements: 90 credits in performative practices

Instructions for work samples

You need to submit the following work samples via Varbi in order to be part of the selection to this education. For some programmes the work samples can also be part of the entry requirements. Only files uploaded in the current admission round can be considered for selection.

If you have used AI tools/AI techniques to produce or process video, image, audio or text in any of your artistic works or submitted work samples, we expect you to disclose and describe your use and production process. 

Work samples

A film that represents your artistic practice

Select material that represents your artistic practice. The film should be approximately 1.5-2 minutes long. Maximum 150 MB, format: mov, mp4 or avi. Read more here about how to convert your film.

A letter of application with supporting credentials

Explain why you want to take the course and describe your qualifications for the course by answering the following questions, either in English or Swedish. Maximum one A4 page (approx. 4000 characters including spaces). Use PDF.

1. List and describe up to five artistic merits (from studies or professional life) that are relevant to this particular course and upload certificates that support these merits. Please note that you must support your merits with certificates, for example from employers or others you have worked with, programmes, reviews or similar.
2. How does the theme of the course relate to your own artistic practice and experiences?
3. What are your expectations of the course, what do you hope to learn and develop further?

Proceed as follow to upload work samples via Varbi:

• Register by providing name and e-mail address.
• Fill in you contact information.
• Please note! Fill in the application number you received when submitting your application to the course via universityadmissions.se.
• Submit the requested documents/files.
• Please name the document/file with content and your name for example: Biography_ first name_ family name.

Confirmation that you have submitted your work samples via Varbi

When you've submitted your work samples you will receive a confirmation to the e-mail address that you’ve stated. If you don’t receive a confirmation e-mail, you should first check your spam filter. If the confirmation e-mail is not there, contact Varbi's technical support.

If there are more qualified applicants than places on a freestanding course, an alternative selection is made based on artistic grounds.
If a selection needs to be made, it is done on the basis of submitted application documents based on Uniarts' criteria at first cycle level.
1. the applicant's ability to solve given tasks, problems or issues
2. the applicant's creative ability.

If you are a citizen of Sweden, another EU or EEA country or or Switzerland you are not required to pay application or tuition fees. Some other groups are also exempt from the requirement to pay application and study fees.

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, another EU or EEA country or or Switzerland you are required to pay application and tuition fees. The level of the study fees depends on which course/programme they are for, and the level is set in order to cover the actual costs of the course/programme in question. SKH has some possibilities of offering scholarships that cover the study fees for programmes.

If you are required to pay an application fee, the Swedish Council for Higher Education needs to receive your payment by the last date for paying the application fee. The application fee is SEK 900. If you are required to pay the application fee and the Swedish Council for Higher Education has not received your payment by the last date for paying the tuition fee, they will not process your application.
