Sustainable production
The climate transition is a key challenge for society as a whole, and the film and television industries are no exception. From 2025 onwards, EU climate targets and legislation will place significant demands on companies, financiers and streaming platforms to report and reduce CO2 emissions. This means that production companies working on audiovisual projects – whether it is feature film, documentaries, animated film or reality TV – will have to work actively with sustainability, climate calculations and reporting their carbon footprint.
The Swedish film and TV industry are in the first steps of concrete action.
This course will give you the tools you need to work on the various phases of production in an environmentally sustainable manner, from project development and production planning to shooting and postproduction. The course deals with factors such as energy consumption, transport, materials and waste management. It will provide you with an overview of sustainable assessment criteria and carbon footprint calculators. Lectures and seminars given by film and media professionals from Sweden and the rest of Europe will give you general knowledge of the climate and sustainability work currently underway, while field studies from other stakeholders will offer examples of best practice.
