Introduction to rigging within circus

The course is aimed at those seeking to develop methods and practical applications for basic rigging techniques and various pieces of circus equipment, including risk analysis and safety. The purpose of this course is to lay the foundations for safe and sustainable circus rigging practice and production.

The course includes working methods and tools for developing creative rigging ideas. The course also includes placements in the circus programmes at SKH as well as study visits to various performing arts departments.

Course director 

Saar Rombout has rigged for companies like Cirkus Cirkör, Acrobatic Conundrum and Festival Circo Circolo. Her experience comes from a combination of sailing, circus rigging, entertainment rigging and stunt rigging. She is also a circus artist with her main specialities in Triple Cloudswing, Multicord and Vertical Dance. She is doing a research master in Contemporary Circus Practices at SKH, where she is developing many different rope installations. Exploring the interaction between a human and the ropes, and how different rope setup affect you each in their own way.

Erik Nyberg is the course responsible teacher.
