Dance didactics in contemporary times - course

This course is for you who wants to develop your dance teaching practice from norm creative, decolonializing and contemporary perspectives and suites both you who already are teaching dance and you who wants to start to teach.

The course is in English and on-line. The on-line format gives you the possibility to study wherever you are geographically located. You just need to be able to practice dance, meaning having access to a space that makes dancing possible, both your own dance practice and dance teaching practice.

The course aims to increase the ability to teach dance within different contexts, with different aims and from different perspectives.

It also aims towards increasing your knowledge and understanding of dance teaching in relation to international contexts and contemporary and future social aspects.

Dance and dance teaching are problematized and scrutinized during the course and the teaching practice is challenged and developed through an explorative approach.

The course is built upon practical and theoretical teacher-led classes in combination with your own work and collaborations with classmates.

The education is structured as practical lessons, lectures, seminars, discussions, collaborations and presentations and is carried out both on Zoom and on a shared learning platform.

  • Application and tuition fees

If you are a Swedish citizen or a citizen of another EU or EEA country you are not required to pay application or tuition fees. Some other groups are also exempt from the requirement to pay application and study fees.

A few years ago Sweden introduced application and tuition fees for higher education. The level of the study fees depends on which course/programme they are for, and the level is set in order to cover the actual costs of the course/programme in question. SKH has some possibilities of offering scholarships that cover the whole study fee or that subsidise it.

If you are required to pay an application fee, the Swedish Council for Higher Education needs to receive your payment by the last date forpaying the tuition fee. The application fee is SEK 900. If you are required to pay the application fee and the Swedish Council for Higher Education has not received your payment by the last date for paying the tuition fee, they will not process your application.

The tuition fee is 198 000 SEK for non EU/EES students.
