Artistic Development for Performance Artists

Artistic Development for Performance Artists

This course is aimed at those with a background in physical and vocal performing arts such as circus, dance, opera, acting or performance and who wish to develop their approach to physical expression and movement within their own art form through artistic development work, on their own and in collaboration with others.

The course is based on the execution of an independently formulated project idea linking to movement-based aspects of your work on stage. During the course, you implement and develop your project in dialog with a supervisor and your fellow students.

The aim of the course is to develop your ability to independently develop, implement and present an artistic idea and give feedback to others. The process itself is the main focus, and the teaching places great emphasis on discussion and reflection on method and the exchange between course participants, in terms of both practice and theory. The course is divided into two parts. In the first part, you work out the theme, purpose and method for your artistic development project and in the second part you carry out and present your project results. The presentation can, but does not have to be, a practical presentation in the direction of a work in progress.

An important part of the course is that you share your knowledge and experience with the other students. Each student has a teacher as a mentor. During the course, you will work and practice independently and participate in artistic group supervision with teachers. In the context of presentations and group discussions, you will have the opportunity to practice your ability to provide feedback to others engaged in artistic development work.

You apply with a project proposal. Selection will take into account pedagogical resources.
