2030: A new building in a new neighbourhood
SKH is in a historic phase of development. We are now taking a decisive step: in April 2026, ground will be broken on the site in Slakthusområdet, Stockholm’s emerging cultural district. By 2030, the whole of SKH will be housed in the new, 30,000-square-metre, architect-designed building.
The building will be a technically advanced cultural arena where circus, dance, film, opera and theatre can be combined into new forms of artistic expression, and where audiences can encounter the artists of the future. Theatres, the Circus Hall, dance studios, film studios, flexible theatre spaces and cinemas will be built here. Here, the next generation of artists will create works we cannot yet imagine.
This co-location creates added value for research, innovation and competitiveness on many levels: for artists, researchers, students and staff, but also for cultural and creative industries in Stockholm and for Swedish cultural life as a whole.
Would you like to help shape the art of the future?
Now you can help equip the building with the stage technology and infrastructure required for SKH to be at the international forefront as the leading artistic university we aspire to become. With your support, we can create an environment for education and research that meets the demands of the present and the potential of the future. Your investment in cultural infrastructure makes a difference to Swedish cultural life in the future. Invest in society’s creative opportunities and the stories of the future.
