4onBoard is a group of four guys, one teeterboard called Ella, ten mats, and a lot of different opinions. We were auditioning for the circus bachelor programme at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and immediately bonded over our passion for teeterboard.

During the three years in school, we have been practising and experimenting with the limits of the discipline. We have been playing with the line between innovation and stupidity and we have had a lot of interesting findings on the way.


Joel Arthur Roxendal

Is there a better feeling than creating something by your own hand? I love that feeling. It can be anything, like carving a butter knife, writing a song or inventing a movement piece. There are so many ways! That’s why I like circus. You can forge anything. Let’s say I’m working on a dance-acrobatic movement piece. If I then feel that it needs music, I create music. If I feel that it needs props, I build props. I can create everything. That is why circus is for me.

I was born in USA and raised in Sweden and slipped into circus by chance. The year 2013 I had to choose a gymnasium, and my father said try this one, it looks fun! That’s how I started Cirkus Cirkörs gymnasium (secondary school) in Stockholm. When I finished the gymnasium 2016, I realized I had a good base and a strong desire to continue practice both my technical and artistical sides more, so I applied for Stockholm University /SKH and got in.
Now I’m ready to access the industry of contemporary circus and share, learn and enjoy what’s to come.

Karl Wiberg

Karl “Kalle” Wiberg is a Scandinavian who experienced silliness from the early days. The first occurrence was when he was three weeks old, in the sea of Sweden. Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, Kalle was closed off from the world. He knew about snow, cold and darkness.  “The highlight as a Swede is the three months of summer we have, where you store vitamin D for the upcoming nine, then rinse and repeat.”

Circus came as a surprise to his life. Circus gave him a greater understanding of the world, for its equalities and inequalities.  When graduating from SKH, he brings this mentality with him. 

Kalle is a base, acrobat and an aerialist, specializing in teeterboard, Russian bar and rope. He also enjoys tissues, muscles and minds. 

The human is a remarkable thing, it is beautiful and horrible, safe and not safe, it can create seemingly impossible things, and it can create chaos.

Luuk Brantjes 

Luuk Brantjes is a circus artist from Oosterbeek, a little town in the Netherlands. He started his circus career at the age of five, joining a youth circus. At the age of 15 he got accepted in the preparatory program of Codarts Circus arts, which eventually resulted in his acceptance to the Bachelor in circus arts of Codarts in 2015. He spent two years in Codarts developing his general skills as a performer and specializing in the discipline Teeterboard.

In 2017 he got accepted to the Bachelor in Circus at Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH), where he continued his studies to become a circus artist. It was there that he met his three current partners and founded the teeterboard company 4onBoard. 
Together they explore the boundaries and possibilities within their practice.

Walter Berndtsson

In my life, I have two modes. One where I'm a circus adrenaline junkie, and one where I can sit for hours in silence and paint. I don't move because I sit down so much, and I don't sit because I move so much. They are just two parts of my life working beside each other. 

I grew up on video games and lego. I started dancing quite young and later I started doing martial arts. In my teens, I started doing some parkour and freerunning which led me into circus.

Circus has the perfect balance in physical, analytical and creative challenge. I train because of the feeling of improvement: for me, circus have a non-linear growth curve so that you always have something to practice and even when you don't you can create
something new, until creating becomes a practice in itself.

I think the core of why i do circus is because i think its fun, and that to me is the best reason to do anything.
