Can ethical boundaries inspire creativity?
In VIS – Nordic Journal for Artistic Research Issue 16, the focus is on ethics in artistic research. The issue explores how ethical frameworks, principles, and questions can actively inform and shape creative processes and practices. It asks what happens when ethics move from being a compulsory checkpoint to becoming a dynamic and generative force within research. What does it mean to think through ethics in artistic research beyond compliance? And what kinds of tensions emerge when ethics take a central role in shaping artistic inquiry – and how might these tensions themselves become generative?
The editor for this issue is Eliot Moleba.
As VIS is a Nordic journal for artistic research, we especially encourage contributions in Nordic languages. However, we also welcome international proposals and/or bilingual expositions to deepen the exploration of this field, and to increase accessibility and exchange.
Deadline for exposition proposals: 27 November 2025.
