The Finnish refugees in Vilhelmina - To visualize documentary stories with (almost) no documentation.
How can I, as a documentary filmmaker, find ways to depict historic events that have none or little documentation in the forms of film, radio or photography? It started with a press-clipping from 1944 with a few lines about an unknown tragedy in Västerbotten towards the end of World War II.

A New Language for Cities

A New Language for Cities is an exploration into how Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and New Media (XR) can help to make art more inclusive through re-introducing it into everyday life, allowing audiences to consider the environment around them in new, playful, immersive and interactive ways. As an artist I am interested in exploring both what has alienated people to different forms of art and also encouraged them to engage with it. I believe that XR has the possibility to play with the reality of how people interact with a city, exploring historical and current narratives to reconnect alienated audiences with art by literally bringing it to them.

C

In this VR experience I’m looking into filmmaking not as a tool for analyzing reality, but for more of dreaming for a new desirable one. How we see our selves as individuals, explore life in action, and how we position towards each other and with that discovering life in curiosity and love.

Virtual presence

The focus of my exposition is in on the phenomena of virtual presence. Trough several angles, this crucial quality of immersive performances as well as in new medium creation (XR) is assessed and discussed, and differentiation between this notion and the notion of digital presence is made. This is done both in writing and trough the final production in the project Advaita: Apparently Real Virtual Sanctuary.

Tools of Vulnerability

Both my artistic practice and film work revolve around my research question: in the context of interviews and the larger scope of cinematic storytelling, how can tools of vulnerability be a symbolic key to unlocking the transformative power of resilience in a narrative?

Homebound

This project investigates tools and methods when telling documentary stories about the countryside, from the perspective of a filmmaker without lived experience in that particular place. Power structures, preconceptions, and place as main character. The project documents the artistic practice and the philosophical reflections on these topics, with a documentary short film as the point of departure.

Kärlet/Dagen lider

An alchemical vessel.
A study of liminal space that embraces the inextricability of opposites - negative and positive, interior and exterior. Form defined both as that which it is and that which it is not. An electric pulse vibrates a membrane to articulate sound, a metal coil creates the illusion of vastness, an oscillating string gives life to a serpentine, sinusoidal wave.

Hotet - work in progress
