An evening at the opera
Come and enjoy, laugh well and cry a little when the opera stars of the future invite you to a graduation performance in Gävle Theatre's beautiful auditorium on 10 and 11 June!
Welcome to an evening at the opera with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra and opera students from Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH)!
Join us to hear future opera singers at the beginning of their careers, on their way to the international opera world. Together with conductor Jonas Dominique and the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, they invite you to an evening filled with drama and emotion. Come and enjoy, have a good laugh and a good cry as the greatest opera scenes are acted out in Gävle Theatre's beautiful hall.
During the performance, scenes from the Romantic opera repertoire by famous composers such as Puccini, Massenet, Weber and Ponchielli will be performed in the first act. The scenes will be performed in their original languages, German, Italian and French. There are swashbuckling dreams, passion and power struggles, but also a good fairy tale.
After the interval, a comic short opera The Old Maid and the Thief, composed in 1939 by Giancarlo Menotti, will be performed in English. This opera was first written as a radio opera, but was such a success that the composer adapted it for stage performance.
