Exchange studies in Performing Arts

Courses offered!

SKH offers to follow the curriculum of the Bachelor's Programme in Performing Arts. Find more information on the structure and content of the programme here.

NB! The language of instruction is Swedish.

Bachelor's Programme in Performing Arts

Courses offered for exchange studies spring semester 2025 include:

Technical Coordination of Production

  • Course within Specialisation IV: Technical Co-ordination of Production in Performing Arts, 15 ECTS (year 2, semester 4)
  • Performing Arts Excersise II, 15 ECTS (year 2, semester 4)

The first course (the first part of the semester) focuses on tools and working methods in technical production coordination for performing arts. The second course consists of carrying out an excercise where students in teams contribute to developing a presentation for an audience. The exercise focuses on technical coordination of e.g. lightning, sound and other parts of the technical fields in the development of the presentations. The courses consist to a larger extent of co-operation between students and also practical stage work.

Theatre Direction 

  • Course within Specialisation IV: Theatre Directing, 15 ECTS (year 2, semester 4)

The course consists of practical artistic work, as well as theoretical and contextualising parts.

Total of ECTS: 30 (Technical Coordination of Production) or 15 (Theatre Directing)

Study period: 20 January - 8 June 2025 (Technical Coordination of Production) or 20 January - 30 March (Theatre Direction)

Main language of instruction: Swedish

Study pace: Fulltime

Responsible unit: Performing Arts

The application period is 15 September to 15 October 2024.

Please note that we only accept applications and certificates through Mobility Online and that we will not consider any applications from students sent by e-mail or regular post. When applying online, make sure to double check that you have chosen the correct home institution.  

Please upload the following documents (in swedish or other scandinavian language) for your application in Mobility Online:

  • Registration certificate from your home institution

  • Proof of previous studies (transcript of records)

  • Language certificate (swedish or other scandinavian language)

  • Letter of recommendation from a performing arts tutor or teacher at your institution

  • CV

  • Letter of motivation

  • Project description (Theatre direction only)

Instructions for Letter of motivation/Project description

Technical Coordination of Production

Letter of motivation (maximum two pages):

  • Describe why you are applying for exchange studies at SKH and what your expectations are

  • Elaborate on which of the areas planning, stage, light, sound or image media in stage contexts you have experience of and wish to continue to develop in

  • Describe how you in the future want to continue your work with production technical coordination in the artistic process together with an artistic team

Theatre Directing

Letter of motivation (maximum one page):

  • Describe why you are applying for exchange studies in Theatre Directing at SKH and what your expectations are

Project description (one-two pages):

  • Imagine that you are given the opportunity to make a site-specific performance. Write a project description in which you describe: What is the site you are working from? What aesthetic considerations are important in the project? What directing methods would you use?

  • Attach a moodboard for the site-specific performance
