Technical Theatre - Bachelor

The academic year of 2019/2020 we will start e new programme "Technical Coordination of Production in Performing Arts"There will thus be no admittance to the programme "Technical Theatre".

The profession of theatre technician evolved from the naval expertise of previous generations, as most of the people who worked behind the scenes were sailors. At sea, they hoisted and hauled sails, and on stage they raised and lowered scenery and backdrops.

The modern work as a theatre technician has a lot more to do with creativity and serving as a link between artistic visions and technical reality. You must also be able to manage a number of computer programs and control systems, and above all, be aware of risks and safety issues. Just as important as the technical skills is the technician’s understanding of the artistic work process, of which you are an important part and active contributor.

Bachelor's Programme in Technical Theatre

During the production period, you will work very closely with the artistic team consisting of the director/choreographer, set designer, costume designer, lighting designer, sound designer and make-up designer. The technical team will then work throughout the performance period, working with the ensemble to do justice to the artistic work.

During the course of the programme, you will work in collaboration with the other bachelor’s programmes at the Department of Performing Arts and participate in practice productions along with students from the other specialties.
