Exchange application to the Bachelor's Programme in Dance Pedagogy

Welcome to apply for an exchange semester at the Department of Dance Pedagogy!

Courses offered

The Department of Dance Pedagogy offers a variety of courses for our inbound exchange students. For the autumn semester 2020, there are five different options to choose from. Options 1-3 is recommended for English speakers. Options 4-5 are primarily for Scandinavian students able to communicate in Swedish. We advise you to discuss your choice with the responsible teacher at your home university. Below you will find the course syllabi for the available courses.

 

Option 1 (ENG)

Contemporary Dance Didactics, International Context (30 ECTS)

Consists of three modules. Please note that in order to apply for this course you need to attend all three modules.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The course Dance Training for Exchange Students consists of five different modules:

Module 1 is your main genre: Modern and contemporary / Jazz / Street / Ballet / Folk Dance (classes four times a week)
Module 2 and 3  are two other selected genres: Modern and contemporary / Jazz / Street / Ballet / Folk Dance (each module has classes twice a week)
Module 4 and 5 (Complementary training): Klein, Pilates or Improvisation (each module once a week)

In your application, we would like you to make a choice between the dance genres in the different modules you want to take during your exchange. If you are admitted, you will be able to test the different dance levels and module genres during your first week. The responsible teacher of each genre will then decide which level is most suitable for you. Please bear in mind that your choices are subject to availability.

Application

The application period is 15 March to 15 April 2020. To apply, click on the green "Apply"-button on the right top corner of this page

The following documents will be required:

  • Letter of motivation. In your letter please make sure to specify your main dance genre
  • CV
  • Your latest Transcript of Records
  • Certificate assuring that you are registered at a higher education institution
  • Letter of recommendation from a dance tutor or teacher at your institution
  • Nomination letter from your institution
  • A video of maximum length 10 minutes and 150 MB including:
    • A presentation of yourself (max 30 seconds.)
    • An act in your main dance genre. The film clip should show dance exercises and something where we clearly can see the motion and flow of your dancing. The exercises are preferably filmed in a dance studio, without lighting or other arrangements. Please make sure that we can see you. If there are others in the film clip you need to specify who you are.

Please note that we only accept applications and certificates through the online application portal and that we will not consider any applications from students sent by e-mail or regular post.
