The Department of Dance Pedagogy offers educational programmes and courses where high quality and front edge competence are combined with deep knowledge, critical reflection and new ways of thinking. The department offers a context characterised by knowledge, creativity and respect and gives the possibility to international exchange as well as close collaboration with the professional field and the surrounding society.
As a student you will have the possibility to develop knowledge about the importance of the arts for human beings and for the society we live in. You will be rooted in research, deepen your knowledge and develop your creative ability in dance, choreography and theory as well as artistic and pedagogical processes.
The profession as dance teacher is constantly changing. Our aim is to educate creative teachers who are well prepared to meet a constantly changing professional life and who can contribute to the further development of the field of dance and dance teaching. Because of that there are lots of opportunities within dance teaching to work with dance and creativity in different ways. Many of our former students have formed artistic collectives and companies working with dance, both on stage and pedagogically, in many different contexts.
The Department of Dance Pedagogy offers three programmes
Bachelor Programme in Dance Pedagogy, Teacher Education Programme in Dance - in Upper Secondary Education and the Master Programme Contemporary Dance Didactics. The department also offers several independent courses such as Choreography, Dance Didactics, Dance for Children and Youth as well as Dance, Media and Mediation.
