Information about the Selection tests

Selection test 1

25 February-8 March  2019  

The assessment of the first selection test is done from the film with the circus act that you have uploaded in Varbi only. They will not assess any additional links from the web. The assessment is done by a smaller admission group.

Aim
The aim of the test is for the admission group to assess your technical level and artistic ability.

Content

The circus act that you recorded and uploaded in your application.

Assessment

The admission group assesses your circus technical level and artistic presentation like movement qualities, musicality/timing, stage presence and interpretation

 

After the Selection test 1 the admission group decides which of the applicants that will pass on to Selection test 2. All the applicants will be informed of the result through MyNetwork/Varbi. The applicants that continue to Selection test 2 will get an invitation during the week starting with 11 March 2018 to come to DOCH.

 

Selection test 2

Dance

Aim

The aim of the test in dance is to get an idea of your movement abilities, your movement qualities, musical abilities and how you can solve given tasks.

Contents

The test in dance consists of a warm up, a shorter choreography and improvisation.

Assessment

The admission group assesses your movement abilities, your ability to improvise and your ability to solve given tasks.

 

Circus Act

Aim

The aim of the test is for you to show your circus technical and artistic ability through the presentation of your circus act.

Content

You shall present a circus act that is between 3 – 5 minutes. You should present your act in a safe way. Please bring your own music. You will be able to use some equipment from our circus hall. You will get more information about the equipment in the circus hall later.

Assessment

The admission group assesses your circus  technical repertoire and abilities, your artistic performance regarding movement qualities, musicality/timing, stage presence and performance.

 

Circus Discipline

 Aim

The aim of the test is for you to show your physical ability and potential in the circus discipline you apply with.

Content

You will work together with a teacher in the discipline you apply with. The test contains exercises in the chosen discipline. It might also contain exercises in strength, stretch and/or acrobatics. If you apply with a duo/group discipline the test might also have exercises in the second discipline that you have stated in your application.

Assessment

The admission group assesses your ability and potential in the circus discipline you apply with and your ability to absorb instructions. The discipline teachers are advisory in the assessment of the test in circus discipline.

 

After the Selection test 2 the admission group decides which of the applicants that will pass on to Selection test 3. All the applicants will be informed of the result through MyNetwork/Varbi in the evening 3 April 2019.

 

Selection test 3

4-5 April 2019 at DOCH, Brinellvägen 34

Individual task

Aim

The aim is for you to show your ability to solve a task within given frames in a creative way.

Content

You will get a task based on your circus act. You will get a time limit to work on the task and then present the results for the admission group

Assessment

The assessment group will assess how you can work with a given task, how to make artistic and technical choices within a given time frame.

 

Circus Discipline

Aim

The aim of the test is for you to show your physical ability and potential in the circus discipline you apply with.

Content

You will work together with a teacher in the discipline you apply with. The test consists of more advanced exercises in the discipline you have applied with. It might also contain more advanced exercises in strength, stretch and/or acrobatics. If you apply with a duo/group discipline the test might also have exercises in the second discipline that you have stated in your application

Assessment

The admission group assesses your ability and potential to develop in the circus discipline you apply with and your ability to absorb instructions. The discipline teachers are advisory in the assessment of the test in circus discipline.

 

Screening

Contents

A physio therapist will be conducting a screening to evaluate your physical abilities to persue the programme.

Assessment

The result of the screening is advisery to the admission group

 

Interview

Aim and content

The aim is to get a personal contact with you and hear you talk about your view on your time as a student at DOCH and your expectations on the education. You will also have the opportunity to talk about your views on circus as an art form and future as a circus artist. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. The interviews are individual together with a smaller part of the admission group (2 – 3 persons).

Assessment

The interview is not assessed.

 

After the Selection test 3 the admission group decides which of the applicants that will be admitted and who will be on the waiting list. All the applicants will be informed of the result through MyNetwork/Varbi at the earliest from 25 April 2019.

The scale for the various assessments is:

1. The applicant does not display the requested ability.

2. The applicant is able to show the requested ability to some extent.

3. The applicant is able to show the requested ability.

4. The applicant is able to properly display the requested ability.

5. The applicant is able to show the requested ability with ease.
