General entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes

Even those who do not meet the formal entry requirements can apply for third-cycle courses and programmes. Below is information about how to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning

General entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes

To meet the general entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes you must have been awarded a second-cycle qualification, or have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second cycle within a relevant artistic disciplinary domain.

Even if you do not meet the formal entry requirements, you may be assessed to have obtained the necessary qualifications, equivalent to an exam, in other ways. In that case you can apply for “Recognition of Prior Learning”. The assessment relates to the knowledge, skills and abilities that you have acquired through work, education or other activities and employment.

How to apply

You apply for recognition of prior learning at the same time as you apply for phd positions. You need to do this in a separate document that you attach to your digital application. The attachment must be named "application for recognition of prior larning". In this application you give detailed information about the educations, work experiences and artistic productions that you think give you the qualifications equivalent to a second cycle education. The most important experiences and merits need to be documented through proof of education, documentation of work experiences or the like.

In addition, please answer these two questions in detail:
1. What special knowledge do you have that would enable you to carry out the course or programme?
2. How have you obtained this knowledge?
