Former students Oscar nominee

Recently the fantastic news came that "A man called Ove" was nominated for an Oscar in two categories: Foreign Language Film and Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Our former students were successful at the Guldbagge Award Ceremony, then came the Oscar nominations - it's a busy time in the Swedish film industry right now.

A man called Ove, directed by Hannes Holm and Rolf Lassgård in the title role, is selected to compete at the Academy Awards ceremony February 26 in the category Foreign Language Film. In addition, the make-up artists, Love Larson and Eva von Bahr, been nominated for the second year in a row for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. That a Swedish film progressed so far that it has been nominated for an Oscar is great, but that our Swedish make-up artists been nominated for the second year in a row is historic. Sweden received the first Oscar nomination ever in the area last year, when Love and Eva were involved with the film The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared.

Love Larson was a student at the Mask and Wig Design program 2001-2003. Love and Eva are regular guest teachers for the Mask and Wig students at SADA.

Actors involved in A man called Ove, that are educated at our school between 1997 and 2013 are:
Bahar Pars, Ida Engvoll, Fredrik Evers and Simon Reithner.

We wish everyone involved congratulations and hope that at least one of our nominees will return to Sweden with an Oscar!

Academy Awards will be held February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
